My Approach
I offer a personalized approach to psychiatry. I believe that every individual has their own unique story and background, and I work hard to understand the complexities of each patient’s life. This helps in personalizing the non-pharmacologic aspect of treatment. I have been formally trained in numerous psychotherapy modalities. These are integrated into my practice in addition to the psychotherapy you may be receiving. I also incorporate timeless teachings from eastern spirituality including Buddhism and Vedanta. My approach is centered on establishing meaningful connections with patients, collaborating on treatment plans, and providing the best evidence-based treatments.
For many, medications are part of their treatment plan. One of the most important parts of my job is psychoeducation. I want my patients to know what their diagnosis means, what treatments are indicated, and what is the evidence for each treatment. My goal for every patient I see is to have a full understanding of what they are going through. For most disorders, once lasting recovery has been achieved, I actively try to work on tapering off medications. My ultimate goal for most of my patients is not to need medications long term.
