Sports Psychiatry
Active Athletes
Over the past 8 years, I have worked with athletes at every level of competition. I am currently the sports psychiatrist for the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Pistons. In this capacity I treat a variety of disorders including ADHD, anxiety, OCD, depression, bipolar disorder, sleep issues, relationship issues, and more. For professional athletes requiring ADHD evaluations, I have been certified by the NFL and MLB to complete ADHD evaluations for treatment use exemptions (TUEs). In addition to patient care, I also provide lectures to residents on various topics in sports psychiatry.

Retired Athletes
From a young age, athletes dedicate a large part of their life to mastering their craft. Transitioning out of a sport can be one of the most difficult battles they face in their lives. This can be a larger hurdle if it was not the athlete's choice. An adjustment to the next phase in life can be a difficult one. Some athletes in high impact sports like football, boxing, hockey, MMA, and rugby face additional challenges due to a history of brain injuries. These athletes require a unique evaluation with consideration for other specialties to be involved. I have experience working with over 100 retired NFL players in a residential treatment facility creating comprehensive treatment plans. I regularly attend national concussion and CTE conferences to stay up to date on current research, evaluations, and treatments.
Consultations
Some athletes, especially those out of state, may prefer a one time consultation. These consultation evaluations typically take 3 hours and you will be provided with a comprehensive treatment plan to take back to your home psychiatrist, therapist, and primary care physician. Evaluations will detail other specialists that may need to be consulted and the reason for the consultation. Due to license regulations, appointments must take place in Michigan, whether in the office or virtually.
